About Coolangatta

Named after the schooner (Coolangatta) which was wrecked there in 1846, the suburb displays an old-school beachside charm where you can still find a milkshake in a tin cup; you will find visitors flock here for its change of pace. Lovely walking trails wrap around the coastline to boarding beaches such as Greenmount, Snapper Rocks and the southern corner of Rainbow Bay.

Sharing its economy with its immediate neighbouring “twin town” Tweed heads in New South Wales, you can literally step between states at the historic point Danger. Renowned for spectacular surf and home to the Corona Pro held in annually and hosts the world’s leading surfers.

Festival Venue: Queen Elizabeth Park, Coolangatta
